Study construction at Newcastle College

Construction involves the whole building process, from planning to building services to becoming a craftsman. Our wide range of courses focus on  developing practical sought-after skills required in the industry and our strong links with employers help you get the hands-on experience you need to make a seamless transition into employment.

Courses

For most construction courses you'll begin at Level 1 and progress up to Level 3. If you already hold a construction qualification from another school or college you can enter directly onto a Level 2 or Level 3 course. For Electrical Installations and Plumbing, you may begin on a Level 2 course, subject to you GCSEs and skills assessment.

Typically, if you have or are predicted less than 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or below:

Facilities

As a construction student at Newcastle College you’ll benefit from:

  • a Construction Technical Academy on site
  • facilities for bricklaying, plastering, floor and tiling, roofing and scaffolding
  • construction workshops at our main campus which simulate site conditions
  • computer aided design facilities.

Our links with employers include Velux, Khlober Systems, John Brash, North East Heritage, ICOPOL, Buck and Hickman, British Gypsum, Westerhope Tile Centre, Weber and Guild of Bricklayers.
