Sport and Exercise courses at Newcastle College University Centre are your opportunity to immerse yourself in sport and pursue your dream career, learning from leading sport and exercise professionals. During your studies you will have the unrivalled opportunity to learn alongside three of the UK's biggest clubs: Newcastle Eagles, Newcastle Falcons and Newcastle United Foundation. Our tutors are also top class. Among their ranks include a professional sports performance analyst, a Premier League nutritionist, an international futsal player and a Northern Ireland Woman's Football captain with over 50 caps.

You will study in fantastic facilities, including those of our professional sports partners, alongside like-minded students; developing your skills and knowledge ready for a fulfilling career in the sport and exercise industry.

What can I study?

FdSc Physical Education and Sports Coaching

Are you passionate about sport? This degree will help you pursue your passion as a career and gain the skills employers are looking for.

Length: 2 years
Study: Full-Time
Start date: 8th September 2025

This course will allow you to pursue a career in a sports performance focused environment or within sport and exercise rehabilitation.

Length: 2 days per week (Monday and Tuesday) for 2 years

  • Assesses and provides treatment for people with mental disabilities, or those suffering with mental illness, stress, and emotional and relationship problems.
  • Administers aromatic herbs and oils and massage to relieve pain and restore health.
  • Adopts a holistic approach in assessing the overall health of the patient, and treats by inserting needles under the skin at particular locations according to the disorder being treated.
  • Manipulates and massages patient to discover the cause of pain, relieve discomfort, restore function and mobility and to correct irregularities in body structure.
  • Diagnoses and treats disorders of vision and eye movements, monitors subsequent progress and recommends further optical, pharmacological or surgical treatment as required.
  • Prescribes diet therapy and gives advice to patients, health care professionals and the public on dietetic and nutritional matters for those with special dietary requirements or to prevent illness amongst the general population.
