Hospitality and Food Courses

If you have a passion for food and hospitality, our courses will help you to enhance your skills to become a first-class chef or develop exceptional front-of-house service. Learn from an expert catering team in specialist facilities at the ‘North East’s Best Culinary College’ and benefit from employer links, work placements and showcase your skills at events and competitions.

You’ll be based in the Lifestyle Academy at our Rye Hill Campus and will benefit from five professional training kitchens with industry standard equipment. You’ll develop your skills working in our healthy eating bistro or à- la-carte restaurant, the Chefs’ Academy, a ‘Highly Commended’ AA College Rosette facility open to the public.

What you can study

We offer a number of courses that can help get you on your way to a career in hospitality and food. The routes will depend on your predicted or current GCSE grades. Please use our guide below to help understand which level you need to apply for.

If you have no GCSEs, you can undertake an Access to Further Education course, which will help you to develop your core subjects as well as English and maths.

We have developed an impressive network with local and regional businesses such as Hotel du Vin, Café 21, Blackfriars and Jesmond Dene House. We also regularly hold special theme nights at the Chefs’ Academy. Open to the public, this busy commercial restaurant has played host to an array of top chefs such as Diego Corrado and Dave Kennedy. Our learners benefit from these links through work placements and live work projects. You will gain the qualities and skills needed to succeed in professional kitchens.
