Have you ever thought about a career in the Engineering industry and not known where to start? If you’re looking to earn while you learn too, this Machining Technician apprenticeship is for you.
This advanced apprenticeship standard is designed to teach you how to produce complex, high-value, low-volume components or assemblies, either in full or in part. You’ll use machines, equipment or systems to the required specifications, such as with turbines, cranes, gearboxes, production lines, rigs and platforms. Fitters may typically have mechanical, electrical or electronic control systems, alongside pipe fitting or instrumentation bias.
On this apprenticeship, you’ll gain workplace-specific knowledge, skills and behaviours relevant to your chosen pathway, alongside a mandatory qualification which will provide you with the fundamental engineering knowledge you’ll need within the industry.

Daily tasks:
- Organises and establishes control systems to monitor the performance and safety of electrical assemblies and systems.
- Ensures that manufacture, operation and maintenance comply with design specifications and contractual arrangements.
