Are you keen to get back in the classroom and start making a difference? If you are a real people person and want a rewarding career, our teaching courses could be for you. Many of our courses can be studied full-time or part-time to fit around your lifestyle and current commitments.


You will be based at our Newcastle School of Education (NSE) which has an excellent reputation for teacher training and professional development. It is one of only ten Centres for Excellence in Teacher Training in the UK. So you know you will be in safe hands.

You will be taught by experienced teacher-trainers who have many years' experience working in the education sector as teachers and education professionals.

A range of teaching specialisms are available: Maths, English and SEND, as well as a CELTA qualification so you can teach English as a Foreign Language.

Bursaries Available

When you train to teach Further Education at Newcastle College, you may be eligible to receive an FE ITE bursary to help you in your studies. Bursaries available for the 2024 to 2025 academic year are:

  • £30,000 for people learning to be a Maths, Science, Engineering or Computing teacher

  • £15,000 for people learning to be an English or a SEND teacher

Only students who meet certain eligibility criteria will be able to receive a bursary. Find out more information about eligibility criteria here.
