Overview

This programme is ideal if you are a newcomer to the Motor Vehicle Industry. It combines good practical hands-on training in Automotive Multi-Skilled Body Repair, with an IMI Level 1 Qualification.

Who the course is for

This engaging and motivating Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ) is generally aimed at learners 16-19 years old, who have a keen interest to learn about various types of Multi-Skilled vehicle accident repair and different roles that are available in the retail motor industry.

Qualification Gained

If you successfully complete the course, you will gain a Level 1 Certificate in Vehicle Accident Repair.

Course Content

The course consists of the following modules:
• Health and Safety and good housekeeping in the Automotive Environment.
• Foundation Skills, Vehicle Materials, Structures and Technical Information.
• Skills in Materials, Fabrication, Tools and Measuring Devices.
• Forming and joining for Vehicle Body Repair.
• Vehicle Body Repair Materials.
• Basic Multi-Skilled Vehicle Body Repair Techniques.
Basic Multi-Skilled Refinishing Repair Techniques
• Moving Loads and Vehicle Jacking.
• Introduction to Low Carbon Technologies in the Automotive Industry.
• Multi-Skilled Vehicle Body Repair Practice and Procedures.
• Basic Vehicle Preparation.
• Removing and fitting none permanently fixed Motor Vehicle Body Panels.
• Minor Vehicle Exterior Body Panel Repairs.
• Vehicle damage assessing
 

Learning Methods

You will undertake a mixture of workshop practical activities and classroom technology sessions.

Assessment Methods

The Assessment for this Award is a combination of practical assessments and a multiple choice on- line examination.

Progression Opportunities

Progression is to a Level 2 Diploma in Vehicle Accident Repair (Multi-Skilled), or gaining employment within the Body Repair Industry with an Apprenticeship.

Career Opportunities

This course could lead to an apprenticeship within the Body Repair Industry.

Entry Requirements

There are no specific entry requirements, but you will be required to attend an interview which will include a diagnostic test; you will also have to complete a satisfactory induction period. If English is not your first language, you will also need English language test score of 5.0 or over.

Course Costs

16 to 18s

Learners are eligible for free tuition if they are aged 16-18 when beginning their studies.

If the course being applied for is a two-year qualification, you will continue to be eligible for free tuition for the remainder of the course.

If the course being applied for is two separate one-year qualifications and you begin studying year one of the course aged 18, you will be required to pay fees for the second year.

Please note, if you are applying from Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland you may be subject to different funding rules than students who live in England.
