Overview

This VRQ covers technical needs for basic Multi-Skilled body repair techniques and procedures. It provides essential knowledge and skills for the body repairer/refinisher working on a wide range of vehicles in all types of garages, dealerships and specialist body repair shops.
This qualification Would form the knowledge component (Technical Certificate) of the IMI SSC Accident Repair Apprenticeship framework (for Body Repair or Refinishing). When an apprentice has achieved a L2 Apprenticeship, they can then choose to broaden their education and training in other ways from this firm base

Course Content

You will study the following modules:

• Health, Safety and Good Housekeeping in the Automotive Environment
• Materials, Fabrication, Tools and Measuring devices
• Support for Job Roles in the Automotive Industry
• Remove/Refit non-permanently fixed panels
• Remove/Refit permanently fixed panels
• Minor vehicle body panel repairs
Panel Preparation and Refinishing
• Auto body resistant spot welding operations
• Auto body construction and materials
• Auto body - Metal Inert Gas Welding Techniques
 

Learning Methods

You will undertake a mixture of workshop practical activities and classroom technology sessions.

Assessment Methods

Assessments are via oral, written and on-line assessments.

Progression Opportunities

By completing this qualification, candidates could be considered for entry to a Level 3 Accident Repair Body Principles Qualification or an apprenticeship within the Accident repair industry.

Career Opportunities

Achieving this qualification could assist in gaining an apprenticeship within the Vehicle Accident Repair Industry.

Entry Requirements

Candidates will be expected to be in possession of a Level 1 automotive qualification. Or equivalent experience, possible opportunity of direct entry depending on initial assessment results.

If English is not your first language, you will also need English language test score of 5.0 or above.

Course Costs

16 to 18s

Learners are eligible for free tuition if they are aged 16-18 when beginning their studies.

If the course being applied for is a two-year qualification, you will continue to be eligible for free tuition for the remainder of the course.

If the course being applied for is two separate one-year qualifications and you begin studying year one of the course aged 18, you will be required to pay fees for the second year.

Please note, if you are applying from Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland you may be subject to different funding rules than students who live in England.
