BA (Hons) Advanced Principles in Media Makeup (Top-Up)

Pass or higher in Level 5 Foundation Degree, Diploma in Higher Education or HND (from related Beauty Therapy subjects).

You may be invited to a discretionary interview.

If you are a current Newcastle College students and successfully meet the published Level 5 entry criteria in an appropriate subject[s], you will be guaranteed a place on this course.             

Applicants are normally expected to have achieved grade 4 or higher in GCSE Maths and English or the Level 2 equivalent (ie. Functional Skills or Adult Literacy/Numeracy).

If English is not your first language you will need an IELTS score of 6.

Full dexterity, good eyesight (with or without contact lens, glasses or other). Students with disabilities will be assessed on an individual basis to confirm their suitability for the course.

This course is supported by industry specialists and practitioners, working alongside brands such as Kryolan and Finishing Touches, as well as guest speakers from the industry that will provide valuable knowledge on how to make relevant connections and networking opportunities within business.

English and Maths are heavily embedded within the course content. From taking measurements for wig making to mixing ratios for various pigments maths skills are tested within the sessions.

English development is supported via written as well as verbal tasks and assessments throughout the year. 

Upon successful completion of this course, you could progress to study for a PGCE if you wish to progress into teaching.

You may also decide to set up your own business or seek employment as a practitioner.
