Strategy and Change will provide insights into the factors influencing the formulation and implementation of organisational strategy. These factors will encompass those external to the firm, such as market structure and demographic changes, and those internal, such as style of leadership and organisation culture. By the conclusion of the module students will be able to take these into account when recommending strategies appropriate for a variety of circumstances. This module also provides you with an award from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).
Managing People is critically important for students who aspire to a career at a managerial or supervisory role within the tourism industry. The aim of this module is to develop your knowledge and understanding of managing people by exploring personal effectiveness, organizational behaviour, individual differences, work psychology, job satisfaction, performance management and improvement.
Crisis and Disaster Management recognises and addresses the implications of interruption to business and the issues and problems that may arise in connection with measures designed to counteract the effects of such interruption. The module allows you to explore issues that could lead to crisis in an organisation and levels of disasters assessing the consequences of areas of research.
Dissertation requires you to work autonomously with limited supervision and undertake independent research within the tourism and hospitality industry. This is your opportunity to explore a topic within travel and tourism management which interests you. Becoming an independent autonomous graduate requires that you will have the skills to be able to plan, evaluate and communicate a negotiated self-managed major project.
Research Methods has been designed to provide you with the necessary knowledge, understanding and analytical skills to undertake qualitative and quantitative research within the field of travel and tourism management.
