Do you have an interest in Software Development or the Digital Sector? Do you look at the latest mobile applications or software and wonder how it works? Do you want a career in the Digital Sector? Whether you're looking to upskill to progress within your industry, refresh after a gap in employment or retrain to change roles... this is the course for you!

We will prepare you for an interesting and exciting career within an ever updating and growing industry. This course is designed to give a foundation level of knowledge for someone who wishes to work in the digital sector. You will study three modules around two different coding languages at university level, and no prior coding experience is required.

There is a significant demand for people who can design, develop and implement software applications. This course has been developed in collaboration with regional employers from the digital sector so you’ll get a relevant, career-focussed introduction to programming which will help address the shortage of developers in the North East of England.

Daily tasks:

  • Ensures that new technologies are researched and evaluated in the light of the organisation.
  • Prioritises and schedules major IT/telecommunications projects.
  • Considers the required IT/telecommunications staffing levels, oversees recruitment and appointment of staff and directs training policy.
  • Develops the periodic business plan and operational budget for IT/telecommunications to deliver agreed service levels.
  • Directs the implementation within the organisation of IT/telecommunications strategy, infrastructure, procurement, procedures and standards.
  • Develops in consultation with other senior management the IT/telecommunications strategy of the organisation.
