T-Level - Laboratory Sciences (Science) – Level 3

You will ordinarily require a minimum of 5 GCSEs at 5 or above, including English, maths and science.

You may also be required to participate in an assessment to ensure suitability ahead of enrolment.

On successful completion of this course you will achieve an NCFE Level 3 T-Level in Science – Laboratory Sciences.

You will study the following core modules:

• Working within the health and science sector
• The science sector
• Health, safety and environmental regulations in the health and science sector
• Application of safety, health and environmental practices in the workplace
• Managing information and data within the health and science sector
• Data handling and processing
• Ethics
• Good scientific and clinical practice
• Scientific methodology
• Experimental equipment and techniques
• Core science concepts
• Further science concepts.

You will also complete an occupational specialism component (Laboratory Sciences).

Students will also need to complete a minimum of 45 days of supervised industry placement.

Work experience is an important part of your T-Level. You will undertake a substantial industry placement with an employer for a minimum of 45 days during your course to help you prepare for your next steps. You will also undertake an employer-set project as part of the course.

English, maths and digital skills are vital to all roles in science and these are embedded throughout the course to help you prepare for working in the industry.

On successful completion of your T-Level in Science, you will be guaranteed a place on a relevant degree course at Newcastle College University Centre. Alternatively, you can progress into industry through an apprenticeship or into a variety of entry-level roles such as a Technician, Food Technologist, Laboratory Technician or Metrology Technician.
