Your Students' Union 

When you enrol on a course at college you will automatically become a member of the National Union of Students (NUS) if you are aged 16 or over. Newcastle College Students' Union is run by students to represent the student population of the College. They are here to support you across a range of initiatives whether it's a college wide event, fundraising, clubs or campaign on issues that you feel are important. 

Nominations now open

The nominations are now open for the first Newcastle College Students' Union Awards 2020. There are eight awards available. Please read through each category below before heading to make your nomination.

Nominations close on Friday 20 March 2020

Shortlists will be announced on Monday 30 March 2020.
All shortlisted nominees will be invited to celebrate their achievements at our Award Ceremony held at Newcastle College Peter Sarah Theatre in April 2020.

NCSU can help you in lots of ways!
Newcastle College Students’ Union (NCSU) can help you in many different ways. The Students’ Union Coordinator and elected officers are here for you whenever you need us. Just call into the SU office, situated on the ground floor of Rutherford whenever you have a course concern, have an event idea you would like support with or an idea for a social activity of campaign you think we should run.

The Union is a fun and exciting place in the college where there is always something happening. It is a great place to meet new people and get involved in various types of activities. The SU can provide you with advice on a number of issues from, housing, drugs and alcohol, staying safe and mental health. It is an inclusive safe space so regardless of your race, religion, ethnic origin, creed, sexuality, age, gender or disability the SU is here to represent you fairly and without prejudice.

The SU also organises a series of cross-campus events throughout the year, from Fresher’s Week to volunteer fayres to picnics and parties. So keep an eye on the NCSU Facebook page, and follow us on Instagram and Twitter to keep up to date with the latest news.

Get involved!
The Students’ Union is here to represent you, ensuring you have the best college experience possible, so it is a good idea to be connected. There are also a number of roles for elected officers to help with the running of the SU and represent the student population in areas such as LGBQ+, disabilities, entertainment and welfare. Students are elected annually to these roles so make sure you look out for the SU elections!

NUS Totum card
Newcastle College Students’ Union is affiliated with the National Union of Students’ (NUS) which means that they help us to represent you and your interests on a national level. As a student at Newcastle College, you automatically become a member of the SU; this entitles you to buy an NUS discount card.

NUS Totum cards cost £12 and lasts for 12 months it is available online now at the NUS website. If you check out the website, you can keep up to date with the latest list of companies that accept the card.
