Travel and Tourism - Level 1

• 3 GCSEs at grade 2 or above including English and maths

If you achieve:

• GCSE grade 3 in English or maths

AND

• GCSE grade 1 in English or maths

AND

• Two other GCSEs at grade 2 or above

You can still study this course, but you will need to complete Entry Level 3 and Level 1 Functional Skills alongside it.

Upon successful completion of this course you will achieve a Level 1 Certificate in Travel and Tourism.

We will introduce you to some of our industry partners such as DFDS, Lumo, Newcastle International Airport and the Maldron Hotel through guest lectures and industry visits.

English and maths are a vital skill needed for working in the tourism and aviation industry. Whether you are dealing with foreign currency or providing information on the temperature of a destination, there are endless opportunities for you to use these skills. As you have not yet achieved a grade 4 in maths and English you will be supported to progress towards achieving this through our functional skills programme.

On successful completion of the Level 1 Certificate in Travel and Tourism, you will be able to take the next step and progress onto the Level 2 Diploma in Travel and Tourism, where you will be able to broaden your industry knowledge.
