• 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above.

On successful completion of this course, you will achieve a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Performing Arts Practice (Musical).

We know that practical experience is essential to building a strong portfolio in the industry and our Work Experience Team will help you find exciting placements that suit your ambitions. In previous years students performed in shows at Live Theatre, The Northern Stage and Theatre Royal Newcastle.

If you have not yet achieved your English and maths at GCSE grade 4 or higher, we will support you in achieving these qualifications alongside your studies.

You will experience English and maths on the course when you plan budgets for shows, arrange lighting and show timings, write scripts and communicate your ideas in group work as well as your portfolio. You will also improve your maths skills as you work on vocal skills and learn music notation.

After you successfully complete this course, you will have a stronger portfolio and may choose to go straight into performing and auditions.

Many of our students progress onto renowned conservatoires and drama schools or go on to study a degree such as our FdA Musical Theatre.
