Diploma in Higher Education: Teaching in Further Education (Part-Time)

Successful applicants will hold at least a Level 3 qualification in the subject area you wish to teach.

Please note: It is an essential requirement of any initial teacher training course that students hold at least a Level 2 qualification in both English and maths at the start of the course. This could be either a minimum GCSE grade 4/C or Functional Skills Level 2 qualification.

You must have confirmed that you have a minimum of 150 teaching hours available through a placement as well as the support of a subject specialist mentor prior to enrolling on the programme. The college will provide assistance in finding suitably supportive placements, but these cannot be guaranteed.

Please note: Entry onto the programme will be dependent upon a valid enhanced DBS check which must be carried out by the college in line with government policy.

If English is not your first language, you will require a minimum IELTS score of 6.5.

Upon successfully completing this course, you will be awarded a Diploma in Higher Education: Teaching in Further Education (awarded by NCG).

• Understanding and managing behaviours (15 credits).

Stage 2:

• Educational technologies (15 credits)
• Professional practice (15 credits)
• Teaching my subject (15 credits)
• Digital and Online Pedagogies in Practice (15 credits).

• Experience learning using a wide range of learning and teaching methods

• Teaching practice placement

You will complete a minimum 150 hour teaching placement in a post-14 educational setting in preparation for employment in a teaching role. You will also receive guidance in professional membership bodies relevant to the sector.

Upon successful completion of this course you could progress onto a BA (Hons) Top-Up degree in Education and Professional Development.
