Music Industry Skills - Level 2

• 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English and maths
• You will also be required to attend an interview/audition

Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a Level 2 Diploma in Music Industry Skills.

You may study units such as:

• An introduction to business
• Composition 
• Music performance
• Learn how to use digital audio work stations (DAWS)
• Organising an event.

• Studio based creative workshops
• Seminars
• Group work
• Independent study.

• Portfolio
• Presentation
• Performances (if applicable).

Our Work Experience Team will be on hand to help you gain practical work experience through placements and live projects.

You will also take part in masterclasses and guest lectures from industry experts. Last year, students had the chance to learn from John Waugh of The 1975 as well as Sam Fender's band-mates Dean Thompson, Tom Ungerer and Drew Michael.

English and maths are important skills for musicians. We will help you to achieve a qualification in both if you do not already hold one, as well as help you to develop your existing skills.

You will explore maths through the development of technical language in music and using ratios when you work the DAWS system. You will also learn about language arrangement when you write music, as well as improve your communication in written work.

After successfully completing the course at a merit or above (along with English and maths) you will have the opportunity to progress onto a Level 3 Music course.
