Students studying Childcare and Education surprised their tutor Cheryl Wright with a message of gratitude last month.

During their lesson the students, asked Cheryl to pause and all turned their cameras on to reveal hand-drawn thank you messages for Cheryl.

The tribute was organised by student, Chloe Doughty, who explained they wanted to show their appreciation to Cheryl because “she goes the extra mile for her students."

"We all agree that Cheryl is an understanding and supportive tutor and she is always there to help us. Throughout lockdown it must've been difficult teaching to blank screens so we decided it would be a nice thing to do and hoped to make her smile.”

Cheryl said, “It totally took me by surprise! It was such a lovely and thoughtful thing for them to do. They said some beautiful words, thanking me for all of the support and kindness I have shown them, as well as having been understanding to their needs, both academic and personally, especially during lockdown. My students are the most kind, caring and thoughtful bunch and I was very thankful to receive this message from them.”

Thank you, Cheryl, for everything you do to support your students #NCLThanksYou
