Newcastle College has partnered with Renewable Field Services, the UK’s leading expert in blade repair, blade inspection and turbine maintenance.

Since the partnership was established at the end of 2022, Renewable Field Services has delivered a talk for students, run practical training sessions (pictured above), and invited students on the College’s subsea and renewable courses to the Port of Blyth to experience the working conditions found inside a wind turbine nacelle and hear about the importance of data and data processing.

Newcastle College aims to develop the skills and talents of students to succeed in their future careers by providing state of the art facilities at the Energy Academy in Wallsend, and working closely with employers to ensure learners get the right skills and experience.

Head of Energy at Newcastle College, Alan Goundry commented: “It is crucial that our students get to learn from industry experts, and experience real life industry placements. It is this level of real-world knowledge that sets them apart from the crowd and makes them employable.”

Renewable Field Services’ Business Development Manager, Heather Lynn said: “This is an excellent opportunity for us to share our knowledge and passion for the wind industry with the next generation. We look forward to working with Newcastle College and its students in the future.”
