Newcastle College students have been recognised for their achievements at the annual HITZ Graduation 2024.
Hosted by Newcastle Rugby Foundation and attended by Newcastle Falcons players and staff, this was a celebration of the graduates of this year’s Premiership Rugby flagship programme, HITZ.
The HITZ programme is an education and employability course that aims to re-engage young people using sport as a vehicle. In Newcastle, Falcons Community runs the HITZ programme in partnership with Newcastle College, supporting students studying for sports and protective services courses.
Four students were called out for their “Outstanding” achievements this year and received a special certificate and signed Falcons shirt.
- Outstanding Leadership – Charlie Cree (Sport Level 2)
- Outstanding Volunteer – Katie Bolton (UPS Level 1)
- Outstanding Bravery – Sam Stansfield (Sport Level 2)
- Outstanding Coaching – Jai Wilson-Smith (Sport Level 2)
After the awards had been announced, the HITZ graduates had the opportunity to talk to representatives from businesses across the region in a jobs fair style format.
