Hairdressing students at Newcastle College can access more opportunities in industry thanks to a collaboration with Stylebook Education.

Stylebook Education is a digital platform for all hair-related training establishments and learners. Launched in early October with support from Newcastle College, it is the only platform of its kind - offering hairdressing students connections to industry that will support their learning and open up future employment opportunities.

Founder Sarah Yorke already runs the successful Stylebook Directory, an online directory of salons, hairstylists, barbers and all hair industry professionals can advertise their services in an online portfolio, showcase their work and connect with new clients and even employees.

Now, Stylebook Education offers students the opportunity to do the same and become discoverable, helping to connect them with hair models and salons and industry professionals via Stylebook Directory. In addition, learners can access careers advice, what’s on and inspirational stories and advice from industry professionals.

Sarah Yorke commented: “I found a huge untapped opportunity in the industry. Learners and establishments didn’t have a platform to connect, become discoverable or develop their online presence on a one-stop-shop. Due to these limitations, I worked with establishments and used my connections to build what you see today. A universal platform for all to use and take advantage of."

Lisa Bullock, Head of Hair and Beauty at Newcastle College said: "We've been working with Sarah for a long time now and have been supporting her to launch Stylebook Education, so it's fantastic to see it up and running for the benefit of learners. Our courses are all about giving our learners the skills, experiences and opportunities to help them succeed in industry and this platform will give them the support they need to make the right connections and showcase the skills they've developed during their time with us."
