Level 5 Fashion Retail and Enterprise student Chloe Harrison is set to feature on the front cover of the summer edition of local fashion magazine, Darkus.

Darkus magazine has worked alongside FDA Fashion Retail and Enterprise students for a few years now. This year, Editor in Chief Thushara Chandrasiri set the brief 'Let's Get Creative' for the Darkus summer issue. Challenging students to consider their individual creativity and how this could influence the Darkus reader to think out of the box.

Chloe explains how she approached the project, and the thoughts behind her concept: “My Darkus Concept is the future of fashion, not just a trend. It explores sustainability with a creative twist. Making changes and incorporating sustainability into your lifestyle doesn't have to be a hard or expensive change.

“My ideas include upcycling what you already own and encouraging individual creativity. I aim to push people to experiment with what they already have in their wardrobe at home and wear it in a new way.”

The project was overseen by tutor Louise Kendell, who said: “This has been a brilliant opportunity for our students to work closely with a client in an industry setting. It’s so important that students gain practical work experience to enhance both their knowledge and employment prospects.”
