Learning Mentors at Newcastle College have been recognised for the work they do to promote good sexual health practice amongst learners.

For the second year running, the team was awarded the best C-Card Mixed Category Outlet at the Newcastle Sexual Health Good Practice Awards, held in December at Newcastle Civic Centre. Newcastle College also ranked #10 out of 63 Newcastle based outlets at the awards.

The annual event celebrates and recognises the important work done by C-Card outlets throughout Newcastle to promote better sexual health to young people and adults.

The C-Card scheme is a free service which offers free condoms and sexual health information to young people under the age of 25 in Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland.

Newcastle College participates in the scheme with the support of West End Youth Enquiry Service, allowing us to offer sexual health advice exclusively to our students, across all of our campus and satellite sites.

Maxine Johnson, Lead Learning Mentor in Central Support Service, commented: "We have been delivering a sexual health support and sign post service in college for a number of years now.

"It's fantastic to be recognised for the hard work of the learning mentors, who continue to provide a successful and important service to our learners."
