• A GCSE or Functional Skills English qualification, or ESOL qualification

• A GCSE or Functional Skills maths qualification

and

• Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care or previous experience within a care environment

Upon successful completion of this course you will achieve a Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of the Prevention and Control of Infection in Health Care Settings.

• Principles of the importance of personal hygiene and health in the prevention and control of infection in health care settings
• Principles of decontamination, cleaning and waste management in health care settings
• Principles of infection prevention and control in a health care settings

You will complete practical activities in our Ward Simulation suite with registered nurses to ensure you gain the practical skills needed to work in the industry.

You will also have the opportunity for a pre-interview Q&A with HR personnel to get you ready to complete an interview for the role of Healthcare Assistant.

Vocational maths and English are vital for employment within the health care sector. Accurate calculations are crucial to determine correct intake of nutrition and or medication dosages depending on your role.

Recording and interpreting measurements such as blood pressure, body temperature, and fluid intake/output require mathematical skills.

Efficient management of resources, including budgeting and scheduling, depends on strong mathematical skills.

Health professionals may need to interpret graphs, charts, and numerical data accurately to monitor patient progress and outcomes.

Effective communication with patients, families, and colleagues is essential for providing high-quality care. This includes listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.

Accurate and clear documentation of patient records, care plans, and treatment notes ensures continuity of care and legal compliance.

Explaining medical conditions, treatments, and care plans to patients and their families in an understandable manner is crucial for informed consent and patient wellbeing.

Healthcare roles often require the writing of reports and planning documents to convey information clearly and professionally.

Understanding and interpreting legal documents, policies, and ethical guidelines require strong comprehension and literacy skills.

If you meet the standard, you will interview with the NHS Trust for the role of Health Care Assistant.

Upon successful completion of this course, you could also use this qualification in the future to apply for work in the Care Sector, or progress onto higher level education.
