English Functional Skills - Entry / Level 1 / Level 2

The course runs three times per year, starting in September, November and January.

You will be notified of the next available start date once you have submitted your application.

• There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
• Entry to study levels from Entry 3 through to Level 2 is via an assessment which will be completed at college to determine which level you should enrol onto. An English teacher will discuss with you the most appropriate level based on the assessment results.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a Functional Skills English qualification in one of three levels depending on the level you study at:

• Entry Level 3

• Level 1

• Level 2.

• Reading

• Writing

• Speaking, listening and communication

• Classroom sessions.

Assessments will depend on the level of study and may include:

• Discussion

• Written tasks

• Reading assignment

• Presentation.

Learners who achieve the Functional Skills qualification in English Language can progress to further study of English.

If you achieve Level 2 you may be able to access Higher Education.

You could also choose to enter the workplace with your new skills and confidence.

This course is free to anyone who hasn’t already achieved a GCSE at grade 4/C or above in English.
