Are you caring and compassionate and want to help others? This short Counselling Skills course will introduce you to the use of counselling skills in everyday life and work, and some of the approaches that underpin the use of these skills.
You will have the opportunity to investigate the knowledge and skills needed to use counselling skills and engage in a helping interaction appropriately and will allow you to develop your use of counselling skills for use in either work or a personal capacity.
This course is ideal f you wish to progress towards further qualifications or wish to study this programme in order to complement other programmes such as health and social care, children’s care, learning and development, voluntary and community work.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
Your literacy ability will be assessed as part of your induction to ensure that you can complete to the standard required for the qualification.

As part of this course you will receive skills practice with counsellors from industry.

Assessment activities will be put in place to allow you to improve your English language and numeracy skills and understanding of life and employment in Britain. Provision is flexible to meet the needs of those aiming to re-train in a new career or upskill in their profession.
Where can I progress?
Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills, also offered by Newcastle College.
