Skills Bootcamps
Skills Bootcamps are part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee, helping everyone gain skills for life. Skills Bootcamps are free to anyone aged 19+ years and are flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, giving people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills and an offer of an interview with an employer upon completion.

What are Skills Bootcamps?
Skills Bootcamps are intensive practical courses designed to help you build specific skills through hands-on training for specific jobs or industries.
Skills Bootcamps typically last less than 16 weeks, and have been designed in collaboration with industry experts to ensure you are ready to enter the workforce quickly and smoothly.
Who can apply?

Any adult aged 19+ who would like to retrain or upskill can apply to study a Skills Bootcamp through self-referral.

Employers who would like to upskill their staff can refer an employee to complete a Skills Bootcamp.
How much does it cost?

Free to anyone with a North East postcode eligible to study in the UK and not referred by an employer.

Any employers in the sector can refer their employees to complete the bootcamp at a cost of 30% for non-SME and 10% for SME*.
*Definition of an SME is an employer with less than 250 employees,
a turnover of less than £25m and have less than 25% shares owned by another company.

Skills Bootcamp in Welding Skills - Level 3
Whether you want to be a shipbuilding welder, a building construction welder or a fitter, this course will help take you there.
Length: 12 weeks

Skills Bootcamp in Technical Skills for Live Events (Stagehand) - Level 3
Take the first step towards working as part of a technical team in the live theatre industry or travelling the world as part of a production crew at live gigs and festivals.
Length: One full day (Mondays) for 10 weeks
