Apprenticeship Description

Do you thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment? Are you someone who brings order to chaos? We are seeking a business administrator apprentice to be the linchpin of Junction 42 head office. From getting the milk to answering the door, you will be happy to roll up your sleeves and give 100% to any task no matter how big or small.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintaining the Junction 42 Newcastle office environment to a high standard, ensuring we are equipped and resourced, and ensuring the smooth-running of life in the office through the management of room bookings, parking rotas and diaries.
  • General office administration, including maintaining office systems, including filing, data management, shredding of sensitive information and managing stock.
  • Screening enquiries and requests via phone, email and post, handling them when appropriate, including taking client referrals and communicating with public sector workers regarding referrals and messages to pass.
  • Being the first point of contact for all staff, clients and visitors, meeting and greeting visitors to the office at all levels of seniority.
  • Data entry including client records and referrals

Undertake any other tasks or duties that may be reasonably required

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

  • Problem solver with a can-do attitude
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Experience in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PCs
  • Excellent verbal skills including telephone etiquette
  • Excellent written skills and a good eye for detail
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
  • Discrete and able to handle sensitive information
  • The ability to work and contribute as part of a team
  • Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of the organisation

Desirable Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to troubleshoot basic IT issues

Understanding of working with vulnerable adults

Junction 42 is a fast-growing organization, since our foundation in 2012 we have grown from just 3 employees to having teams across Northeast England and Edinburgh, working on the ground in various prisons and all cities and major towns in our regions. Since 2020 we have had a national reach as we provide bespoke, faith outreach resources for prisons. Our head office is in Newcastle with teams also based in Teesside and Edinburgh. 

Working Week:

Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm

Future Prospects:

A potential of a full-time role on completion of a successful apprenticeship.
