Machining Technician Apprentice

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Machining Technician Apprentice to join our engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is interested in engineering, manufacturing and machining and wants to develop a long-term career in precision engineering.

Working alongside experienced engineers and machinists, you will gain hands-on experience and learn how to manufacture high-quality, precision-engineered components using a range of CNC and conventional machining processes and equipment.

You will receive structured training both in the workplace and through your apprenticeship training provider, developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become a successful engineering professional.

This is a practical, hands-on role where you will learn from experienced team members while progressively developing your own technical skills and confidence.

Key Responsibilities

As a Machining Technician Apprentice, your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating CNC and conventional machine tools under supervision.
  • Supporting the manufacture of precision-engineered components.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Setting up tooling, fixtures and workpieces for machining operations.
  • Measuring and inspecting components using precision measuring equipment.
  • Carrying out routine machine maintenance, cleaning and housekeeping activities.
  • Maintaining accurate production and quality records.
  • Following company quality procedures, engineering standards and work instructions.
  • Working safely at all times and complying with health and safety requirements.
  • Supporting continuous improvement activities within the workshop.
  • Assisting experienced machinists and engineers with a variety of engineering projects.
  • Developing your technical knowledge and practical machining skills throughout the apprenticeship.

Previous engineering or machining experience is not essential. We are looking for the right attitude, enthusiasm and willingness to learn.

Working Hours & Pay

Monday–Thursday: 7:30am–4:30pm
Friday: 7:30am–1:30pm
