Location: Newcastle upon Tyne (with opportunities to work alongside colleagues across our offices in Newcastle, Leeds and Middlesbrough)
Hours: 30 hours per week (Monday to Friday) in the workplace, plus 6 hours per week studying with Newcastle College and approximately 2 hours of independent study, in line with the Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard.
Salary: National Apprenticeship Wage, plus additional benefits including private health insurance and paid overtime where applicable.

About the Apprenticeship
Trinity Chambers is offering an exciting opportunity to join our Family or Criminal Clerking Team as a Business Administrator Apprentice. Delivered in partnership with Newcastle College, this Level 3 apprenticeship combines practical workplace experience with structured learning.
This is an entry-level role designed for someone who is organised, professional, confident communicating with others and keen to develop a long-term career within a barristers' chambers.
Working closely with Lead Clerks, Junior Clerks and Barristers, you will learn how chambers operates while developing practical skills in business administration, diary management, client liaison, case administration, commercial delivery and the use of technology to support a professional legal services business.
The Role
As a Business Administration Apprentice, you will provide administrative and operational support to barristers, clerks and clients within either our Family or Criminal team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the day-to-day administration of chambers.
- Answering telephone calls, monitoring shared inboxes, taking messages and directing enquiries to the appropriate member of the clerking team.
- Preparing, scanning, printing, organising and distributing case papers, bundles and other documents.
- Supporting the diary management of barristers, including hearings, conferences and client meetings.
- Assisting with the delivery of client-facing activities, both in person and virtually.
- Liaising professionally with solicitors, court staff, barristers and other legal professionals.
- Providing reception cover and general office support, including handling incoming and outgoing post and court papers.
- Supporting chambers events, marketing administration and other business support activities when required.
- Learning and using chambers' case management and diary systems accurately and efficiently.
- Maintaining confidentiality and ensuring information is handled securely at all times.

No previous clerking experience is required. An interest in law, advocacy, court procedure or professional services would be an advantage but is not essential.
