Business Administration Apprentice

Employer: Sendrig Construction Limited
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Working Hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday (with the exception of college/training days)
Vacancies: 1

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join Sendrig Construction Limited, a well-established, family-run construction company based in Newcastle upon Tyne, as a Business Administration Apprentice.

You'll gain hands-on experience within our busy administration team, supporting the day-to-day running of the business while developing valuable skills that will set you up for a successful career. From your first day, you'll be trusted with real responsibilities, working with experienced colleagues who will support your development throughout your apprenticeship.

This is not a "make the tea" apprenticeship. You'll be an important part of the team, learning practical administration skills, customer service techniques and how construction projects are managed behind the scenes.

What You'll Be Doing

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Inputting, updating and maintaining accurate information using Sage.
  • Answering telephone calls from tenants, clients and contractors in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Monitoring the progress of jobs through online contractor and framework management portals.
  • Updating records and ensuring documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Providing general administrative support to the wider office team.
  • Managing emails and responding to enquiries where appropriate.
  • Assisting with scheduling and coordinating works.
  • Filing, scanning and maintaining electronic and paper records.
  • Supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the business.

Why Join Sendrig Construction?

At Sendrig Construction, we believe apprentices should be given meaningful work from the very beginning. You'll develop genuine, transferable skills while working alongside experienced professionals in a supportive environment.

As a family-owned business, we're proud of our close-knit culture. You'll know your colleagues by name, receive regular support from your dedicated line manager, and be treated as a valued member of the team rather than just another employee.

This apprenticeship provides an excellent foundation for a long-term career in business administration, construction, project coordination or office management.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Friendly and professional with a good telephone manner.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Enthusiastic and eager to learn.
  • Organised with good attention to detail.
  • Able to work well as part of a team.
  • Positive with a can-do attitude.
  • Comfortable using computers and willing to learn new systems.
  • Able to communicate confidently with customers and colleagues.

Wage

  • Aged 19 or under: £8.00 per hour
  • Aged 20: £10.85 per hour
  • Aged 21 or over: £12.71 per hour

Future Prospects

Successful completion of the apprenticeship could lead to a full-time permanent position with Sendrig Construction Limited, with opportunities for continued development and progression within the business.
