Job Title: Apprentice Roofer

Location: Stockton

Hours: 37 hours per week 

Salary: £8.00 per hour 

About the Role 

We are looking for a hard-working Level 2 Roofer Apprentice who wants to gain valuable hands-on experience while working towards a nationally-recognised qualification.

This apprenticeship is an excellent opportunity to learn a skilled trade with an established roofing contractor working on a variety of domestic, commercial and new-build projects. Working alongside experienced roofing professionals, you will develop practical skills in roof installation, repairs, maintenance and safe working practices within the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities 

• Assisting experienced roofers with the installation, repair and maintenance of roofing systems.
• Learning how to work with a variety of roofing materials, including slate, tile and flat roofing systems.
• Assisting with roof inspections and identifying defects or areas requiring repair.
• Learning how to safely use roofing tools, equipment and access systems.
• Supporting the installation of roof coverings, underlays, battens, flashings and guttering systems.
• Assisting with measuring, cutting and fitting roofing materials.
• Learning to interpret drawings, specifications and job instructions.
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
• Working safely at height and following all health and safety regulations.
• Communicating effectively with colleagues, customers, site managers and other trades.
• Representing the company professionally at all times.

Person Specification 

Essential 

• A genuine interest in roofing and construction.
• Good practical skills and a willingness to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
• A strong work ethic and positive attitude.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• Good attention to detail.
• The ability to follow instructions and work safely.
• Good timekeeping and reliability.
• Basic English and maths skills.
• The ability to travel to different work sites as required.
• A commitment to completing the Level 2 Roofer Apprenticeship.

Desirable 

• GCSE Grade 3/D or above in English and maths (or a willingness to work towards these qualifications if required). 
• Previous experience of construction (at school, college or through work experience) is advantageous but not essential.
