Job Title: Apprentice Bricklayer 

Location: Hexham  

Hours: 37 hours per week 

Salary: £8.00 per hour 

About the Role 

We are looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic Apprentice Bricklayer to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in the construction industry while gaining a recognised apprenticeship qualification. 

You will work alongside experienced plasterers, learning the skills and techniques required to become a qualified tradesperson. Full training and support will be provided throughout your apprenticeship. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Assist qualified Bricklayer on domestic and commercial projects. 
  • Prepare walls, structures for Bricklaying. 
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment. 
  • Load and unload materials, tools and equipment. 
  • Follow health and safety procedures at all times. 
  • Attend college or off-site training as part of the apprenticeship programme. 
  • Complete coursework and practical assessments required for the apprenticeship. 
  • Develop knowledge of industry standards, building regulations and best practices. 

Person Specification 

Essential 

  • A genuine interest in construction and plastering. 
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills. 
  • Good timekeeping and reliability. 
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic. 
  • Ability to work as part of a team. 
  • Good communication skills. 
  • Commitment to completing the apprenticeship programme. 
  • Full UK driving licence. 

Desirable 

  • GCSE Grade 4/C or above in Maths and English (or willingness to work towards these qualifications if required). 
  • Previous experience of construction (school, college or work experience) is advantageous but not essential.
