Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprentice – Arriva 

Location: Various UK Depot Locations

Salary: Year 1: £20,391 per annum (£10.45 per hour)

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday). Some flexibility is required as occasional evening and weekend work may be necessary to support operational requirements.

About the Apprenticeship

This permanent Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship combines practical workplace experience with a recognised BTEC Level 3 Advanced Manufacturing Engineering qualification.

You'll earn while you learn, gaining valuable engineering knowledge and practical skills across our rail depot facilities and infrastructure. Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll develop expertise in mechanical, electrical and maintenance activities while building a rewarding career in the rail industry.

What You'll Be Doing

Throughout your apprenticeship you will:

  • Assist with the maintenance, inspection and repair of depot facilities and infrastructure.
  • Develop practical mechanical and electrical engineering skills.
  • Support planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Learn how to diagnose faults and contribute to engineering solutions.
  • Work safely in accordance with engineering standards and company procedures.
  • Use engineering tools, equipment and maintenance systems.
  • Work alongside experienced technicians across multiple depot locations.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, reliable and efficient railway.
