Apprenticeship Description
Full Description of Position :
- Machine Setup: Learn to set up CNC machines, including loading raw materials, selecting appropriate tooling, and securing workpieces in the machine.
- Programming: Gain proficiency in writing and editing CNC programs using software such as G-code and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software.
- Machine Operation: Operate CNC machines, monitor the machining process, and make necessary adjustments to ensure accuracy and quality of the finished parts.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers) to ensure they meet specified tolerances and quality standards.
5. Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines, including tool changes, cleaning, and basic repairs. Troubleshoot and identify issues that may affect machine performance
Working Week:
40 per week
7:30 am – 4:30pm Monday to Thursday
7:30 am – 1:30pm Friday
Future Prospects:
- CNC Machinist: After completing your apprenticeship and gaining experience, you can work as a CNC machinist. In this role, you will operate CNC machines, produce precision parts, and ensure the quality and accuracy of components. CNC machinists are essential in industries such as aerospace, automotive, medical devices, and more.
- CNC Programmer: With further training and experience, you can transition into a CNC programming role. CNC programmers are responsible for creating and optimizing CNC programs, which guide the machining process. This role requires strong technical skills and the ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Manufacturing Engineer: A CNC machining background can lead to a career as a manufacturing engineer. Manufacturing engineers are responsible for improving production processes, optimizing efficiency, and implementing lean manufacturing principles. They work to enhance the overall manufacturing operation, including CNC machining.
- Quality Control Inspector: Quality control inspectors ensure that machined components meet strict quality standards and specifications. This role involves using precision measuring instruments to perform inspections and may include creating inspection reports and documentation.
- CNC Machine Shop Supervisor or Manager: With experience, you can move into a supervisory or managerial role within a CNC machine shop. In these positions, you'll oversee the daily operations of the shop, manage personnel, allocate resources, and ensure production goals
