Fashion Week Celebrations Expand to Newcastle

This September, the British Fashion Council (BFC) is bringing Fashion Week to Newcastle.

As part of these celebrations, HE Fashion student work has been turned into a stunning display in Eldon Square for all of Newcastle to enjoy!

In a vibrant and visually captivating display, fashion and textile students from Newcastle College are offering a fresh glimpse into the next wave of design talent. This installation is a rich, layered collage of their creative portfolios, reflecting the meticulous process that go into each piece of their design work.

Born To Elevate Lamin Gibba

Introducing Lamin Gibba

Find out more about one of NCUC's outstanding Fashion students

Lamin launched Jerry J Clothing through support from the Prince’s Trust, and enrolled on the NCUC Fashion Marketing Communication programme with a clear goal: to develop the creative and technical skills necessary to take control of his brand’s visual and communication output.

With no prior experience in the fashion sector, Lamin secured work at London Fashion Week with rising designer Tolu Coker. He then channelled this experience into producing his own debut fashion show for the Jerry J brand as part of BA Hons Design Practice programme at NCUC.

Through this L6 final year, Lamin curated and delivered Born to Elevate, a large-scale fashion event and celebration of Gambian culture which drew an audience of 193 guests, including the High Commissioner for Gambia, Newcastle MP Chi Onwurah, and former England international Bruno Pilatos.

TV Film and Media Final Show

The talented recent graduates of L6 TV, Film & Media have created a compelling collection of final documentaries and films, showcasing their creativity and technical skill. These works explore powerful themes including passion, loss, change, and truth, reflecting a diverse range of storytelling approaches and media techniques.

Each piece stands as a testament to the producers’ artistic vision and serves as an impressive portfolio as they transition into the industry and begin their freelance careers.
