Student Services at Newcastle College has retained its Matrix Standard in recognition of their high quality IAG services.

The Matrix Standard is the international quality standard for organisations that deliver information, advice and/or guidance (IAG). It recognises the way that an organisation manages, administers and delivers impartial information, advice and guidance to support individuals in their choice of career and learning goals. It demonstrates the quality of the information delivered to learners and the college community and helps providers to self-assess and improve their services by benchmarking against best practice.

Commenting on the strengths of Newcastle College’s work in the accreditation report, Matrix assessor Graham Walton placed emphasis on the relationships the Student Services team has built across the college, the effective collaboration across teams, and the enthusiasm and commitment of the Student Services team in delivering IAG to students. The report also included comments from internal and external stakeholders, with one partner observing “I have 100% trust in Student Services so that if I tell students or partners what will happen next, I know it will be done quickly, effectively and professionally”

Roz Kirton, Student Services manager said: “We’re so pleased to have retained the Standard for another 3 years.  It is testament to the full team for their ongoing hard work and commitment to their roles, especially over the past 2 years where they have continued to provide all of our services in sometimes very difficult circumstances. The team is dedicated to providing the right support and guidance to help our learners succeed and I’m extremely proud of them.’’
