Why did you choose to study at Newcastle College?
I chose to complete my degree at Newcastle College University Centre because it was the only institution that offered a course I wanted to study. It’s really easy to commute to and
I have previously been a student here and had a positive experience, which made choosing the College easier.

No, I didn’t attend an open day.
What do you enjoy most about your course?
I enjoy working with hardware and the physical hands on learning we do as part of our course.
Do you like the fact assessment is not all based around exams?
I really enjoy the variety of assessment methods the course has, as it’s not just exams, we have practical assessments, written reports and presentations so it breaks up the assessment really well.

The friends I have made on my course and tutors really inspire me, we all encourage one another to achieve our best, which I find really motivating as it pushes me to be my best.
Have you had the opportunity to go on a work placement as part of your degree? What skills do you feel you gained?
I haven’t done any work placement, but as part of my degree I have gained Cisco networking skills as well as technical and theoretical skills to do with networking, server administration, virtualisation, cyber security and wireless. This will really benefit me when I go into industry.

Yes, I think learning from industry-experienced tutors really supported my learning, as it gave us an insider view of what it was like to work in industry over a theoretical view.
