During the Life Skills Hub "College Ready" sessions that have been taking place over the past few weeks, students have been taking part in painting miniature models.

Rebecca, a blind and partially-sighted learner who has been accessing the Hub on Friday afternoons as part of community inclusion sessions, wanted to help other blind people within her community. She decided to make pom-pom keyrings in order to raise money to sponsor a guide dog. Funds raised for guide dogs go towards the hard work and costs associated with training and caring for them, in the two years it takes before they are fully qualified.

Rebecca has been helped in her fundraising enterprise by three of her fellow learners who also access the Hub, meaning it has been a great opportunity to share skills and make friends.

The fundraiser was held by Rebecca on 24 June in Trevelyan Foyer, where she sold her pom-poms, cakes and other goodies.
