Newcastle College has been shortlisted as a finalist in the second annual North East Beauty Industry Awards.

The awards aim to recognise the achievements of businesses and individuals in the beauty industry and will present awards across a number of categories, including Beauty Salon of the Year and Dentist of the Year.

The College, which helps students to train for careers such as hairdressing, beauty therapy and spa management, has been shortlisted for Hair and Beauty Training Academy of the Year.

Students at the College benefit from first-class facilities and work within The Retreat, a fully-equipped beauty spa and hair salon open to the public. Its treatments are performed by supervised students in training and offers everything from facials to manicures, massage to microdermabrasion and more.

Kirsty Park, Head of Curriculum for Hair and Beauty at Newcastle College, said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for Hair and Beauty Training Academy of the Year at the North East Beauty Industry Awards.

“Our students receive hands-on training in a real-working environment to ensure they learn the skills they need for a career in the industry when they leave us and so many of our students have gone on to have successful careers because of the training they received here.

“These awards recognise the work of professionals across the region and it is fantastic to be named amongst them."

The winners of the North East Beauty Industry Awards will be announced at a black-tie event on Sunday 22 September, at The Grand Hotel Gosforth Park.
