Colleagues from Newcastle College’s Hair and Beauty department are celebrating after taking home two awards at the annual Association of Hairdressers & Therapists (AHT) Conference.

An independent panel of judges awarded the College’s Hair and Beauty team the ‘Outstanding Industry and Employer Engagement’ Award, and the ‘Best Overall College’ Award.

Newcastle College impressed the judges with both the quantity and quality of employer engagement within the Hair and Beauty curriculum, as well as opportunities for teachers to engage in regular Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities.

The Best Overall College award was sponsored and presented by Celebrity Hairdresser Andrew Barton (pictured with the team, above centre), who ran sessions with students at the college recently.

Lisa Bullock, Director of Business, Education, and Service Industries at Newcastle College said: “The Hair and Beauty team at Newcastle College is amazing. These awards are thoroughly well deserved. Each team member cares about the sector and their learners, and we are lucky to have them.”

The AHT conference provides an opportunity for professionals from the industry to share best practice and take part in professional development activities.
