Newcastle College celebrated its Embracing Diversity Awards with special guest and speaker, Andrea Johnson, Head of Operations at Equality North East.
The event, which takes place annually, saw guests attend to hear Ms. Johnson announce the winners of the Awards, which recognise outstanding contributions made by staff and students to embracing diversity while working with the local community.
The Awards were broken down into six categories and entrants were encouraged to submit their entries on DVD, story boards, journals, models and photographs.
The event took place in the Mandela Building exhibition space, at the College's Rye Hill Campus and entertainment was provided by the College’s student choir, Signature Sound.
Andrea Johnson, said: “When you walk into the College you get a real sense of the diverseness of the city and it’s the proactive approach the College takes to working as part of a vibrant culturally diverse community that sets it apart.
“It’s encouraging to see how much thought and effort that all entrants made, and the many different ways that diversity in the community has been interpreted.”
