Make-Up - Level 1

• 3 GCSEs at grade 2 or above including English and maths

If you achieve:

• GCSE grade 3 in English or maths

AND

• GCSE grade 1 in English or maths

AND

• Two other GCSEs at grade 2 or above

You can still study this course, but you will need to complete Entry Level 3 and Level 1 Functional Skills alongside it.

Upon successful completion of this course you will achieve a City and Guilds Level 1 Certificate in Makeup.

You will collaborate with students from across our Hair and Beauty courses and will gain experience working in our real salon environment, The Retreat. Here, you'll take on day-to-day salon duties and learn best practice.

Make-up artists rely on maths and English skills in every day jobs, therefore both subjects are embedded into your programme through use of rations, writing down products and recommendations and measuring and timings.

If you do not have a grade 4 or equivalent at GCSE you will be required to work towards this alongside your course.

Upon successful completion of this course, you could progress onto Cosmetic Make-Up - Level 2.

If you are aged 16-18 when you begin your course you are likely to be eligible for free tuition. Detailed information can be found within the financial support section.

Learners not eligible for student bursary will be required to purchase a college training kit approx. £250 and uniform approx. £70.
