More about the course
If you already have some basic ceramics experience and want to take your skills to the next level, our Ceramics Practitioner course is the perfect next step. This exciting 6 week programme is designed for people who are passionate about ceramics and want to grow both their technical skills and creative ideas.
You’ll work in our state-of-the-art ceramics studio in the Mandela Building, one of the largest ceramics studios in the North East! With three dedicated spaces for hand building, throwing, and glazing, you’ll have access to the tools and facilities you need to create work you can be proud of.
You’ll learn and practise key techniques including throwing, hand building, glazing, and testing. You’ll follow the full creative process from developing your initial idea, researching markets and artists, experimenting with materials and refining your designs, right through to making, glazing and evaluating your final piece. You’ll also be encouraged to enter competitions and exhibitions, helping you to share your work and strengthen your portfolio.
