More about the course
Do you want to live and work abroad teaching English? Or do you want to teach English to adult refugees in the UK? You can qualify as a TEFL teacher at Newcastle College.
This intensive Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) course, is the most internationally recognised language qualification. It is ideal if you would like to teach English to adult speakers of other languages and want to get qualified in a short amount of time.
You may be looking to take a year out to teach abroad before going onto further study or employment, or perhaps you are looking for a career change and new challenge. You should have a real interest in language and how it works, be patient, resilient and enjoy working with people.
As part of the course you will be taught in small groups and replicate real teaching practice to develop your skills and knowledge of teaching. A key aspect of the course is giving feedback to your classmates as well as receiving it, all to help you to become a well-rounded teaching practitioner.
