Maths Functional Skills - Entry / Level 1 / Level 2

The course runs three times per year, starting in September, November and January.

You will be notified of the next available start date once you have submitted your application.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Entry is via an assessment which will be completed at college to determine which level you should enrol onto. A maths teacher will discuss with you the most appropriate level based on the assessment results.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a Functional Skills Maths qualification in one of three levels depending on the level you study at:

• Entry Level

• Level 1

• Level 2.

• Using numbers and the number system – whole numbers, fractions, decimals and percentages

• Using common measures, shape and space

• Handling information and data

• Reading, understanding and using mathematical information and mathematical terms

• Recognising and obtaining a solution to a straightforward problem.

• Classroom sessions.

• Assessment (split into two parts, one with a calculator and one without).

Learners who achieve the Functional Skills qualification in mathematics at Levels 1 and 2 can progress to further mathematical study such as GCSE, or any other further vocational study.

You could also choose to enter the workplace with your new skills and confidence.
