Working Hours: Monday – Thursday, 7:00am – 5:15pm

Role Overview

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Machining Technician to join our North East team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working towards a recognised qualification in machining and engineering.

You will learn to operate advanced machinery and develop precision engineering skills under the guidance of experienced professionals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the setup and operation of CNC and manual machining equipment
  • Learn to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and CAD data
  • Support the production of precision components using milling, turning, and drilling processes
  • Work with a variety of materials, including metals and alloys
  • Carry out basic machine maintenance and tooling changes as training progresses
  • Use measuring equipment (e.g. calipers, micrometers) to ensure accuracy and quality
  • Support senior machinists with day-to-day workshop activities
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment
  • Follow all health and safety regulations and company procedures
  • Participate in ongoing training and attend college as part of the apprenticeship programme

Skills & Qualities Required

  • Strong interest in engineering, manufacturing, or machining
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical and practical skills
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to precision
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Basic understanding of maths and measurements
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
  • Good communication skills

Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above preferred)
  • No prior experience required; however, any exposure to engineering or workshop environments is advantageous

Career Progression
