If you are looking for a rewarding career and want to inspire the next generation while developing yourself, a childcare course at Newcastle College could be the right choice for you. With full-time and part-time courses available, as well as a range of degrees, we can help you to get on track for a career in childcare. Many of our students have gone on to careers in youth social work, teaching and early years development.

Our childcare courses are designed to help you develop the practical skills and knowledge to set you up for a rewarding career in the sector. We work with employers to ensure you gain work experience and develop the skills you need to succeed in your future career. On campus, you will benefit from practical teaching spaces, nursery reception classes and kitchens and a multi-sensory room, as well as a work placement to gain real-life work experience.

What can I do with a qualification in Childcare?

Daily tasks:

  • Liaises with parents, carers and colleagues and keeps appropriate records.
  • Puts away equipment and cleans premises after use.
  • Organises and supervises children.
  • Organises and supervises children on excursions.
  • Encourages children.
  • Provides play areas and prepares materials for a wide range of children.
  • Supervises children.
