Chloe Naylor
Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Apprentice

Chloe Naylor
18-year-old Chloe Naylor is currently undertaking a Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician apprenticeship at Aggreko, a UK-wide engineering company with a depot in Washington. Chloe applied for the apprenticeship following advice from her manager at Aggreko, which led to her enrolling at Newcastle College.
Why did you choose to become an apprentice with Newcastle College?
I was already an apprentice at Aggreko, but I needed to partner with a local college to help build on my theory and technical skills. When looking at the different courses provided by colleges in the area, my line manager at Aggreko decided that Newcastle College provided the best engineering courses that were most relevant to my apprenticeship. The fact they were based close to the depot also helped!
What do you think are the benefits of being an apprentice at Newcastle College?
Being an apprentice means that I get to earn money whilst building on my qualifications. I also get a lot of one-to-one training and support from professionals in my workplace, which is helping me to develop my skills and learn the tricks of my industry.
What advice would you give to others considering becoming an apprentice at Newcastle College?
Always keep on top of your college work and try to find a work-life and study-life balance. I'd also say to never be afraid to ask questions, both in College and at work, since everyone is only there to help you.
What has been your favourite part about being an apprentice at Newcastle College?
My favourite part about being an apprentice at Aggreko and with Newcastle College is the number of opportunities that I get here which I wouldn't get anywhere else, such as travelling and attending training courses to develop my skills and prepare myself for my career.
