Shea Johnston of Iain Johnston roofing in Cumbria, wins CUPA PIZARRAS Apprentice of the year award.
21-year-old second year Newcastle College roofing apprentice, Shea was selected by his tutor Jay Lewis and our employer partner Cupa Pizarras.
Shea's Tutor Jay Lewis said: "What stands out to me about Shea is how he quietly gets on with things no matter what you ask of him. Shea is a quiet lad and may feel overlooked within the group as he keeps himself to himself a lot, but it has not gone unnoticed by me as I personally think he is a star learner and future roofer.
"Shea has achieved very high scores in his theory coursework and outstanding standards of work in the practical sessions. Shea lives in Wigton in Cumbria and travels every day by train to college for his 2-week block lessons and is never late and always keen to learn. Travelling like this to me is going above and beyond."
Newcastle College’s annual ‘Roofing Apprentice of the Year’ competition is sponsored by Cupa Pizarras, the world leader in natural slate and a longstanding partner of the College.
