Posted On 12th March 2015 By Nichola Taylor

Newcastle College will be holding an HE open evening on Wednesday 18 March to give local people advice on higher education courses and tuition fees.

The college will open its doors between 5pm and 7pm welcoming anyone looking to develop higher level skills through the wide range of degree courses on offer. There will also be an opportunity to apply for a full-time or part-time degree programme for 2015.

The event will be held in the college’s state-of-the-art Performance Academy on the Rye Hill campus. Course tutors and current students will be on hand to speak to people on a one on one basis as well as offering tours of the campus and learning areas, including Art and Design, Creative Industries, Engineering, Health and Enterprise and Travel and Tourism.

A presentation will be available for students and their parents offering advice and information on tuition fees and guiding them through the financial support available. In addition, the Students’ Union, Student Services, Learning Support Services and private accommodation providers will on hand to answer questions and give visitors a feel for student life at the College.

Newcastle College offers over 60 full and part-time Degree courses and is the largest provider of HE in an FE setting anywhere in the UK. It was one of the first colleges to be able to validate and develop its own Foundation Degrees, allowing it to be totally responsive to local employers and the growing need for higher level skills. Students at the College have access to cutting edge facilities, developed in conjunction with industry. Courses also combine work placements and links with major local employers, such as P&G, Hilton hotels and resorts, Newcastle International Airport, Gleneagles and Barnardo’s.

Rachel Nagel, Head of Marketing at Newcastle College, said: “Choosing the right course and the right place to study is such a huge decision that we wanted to give people the chance to come down with their friends and family and really see what we have to offer. We work with employers to develop courses that give our students a real insight into industry and the skills to get a job.”
